Meet our Senior Copywriter, Omar.
He writes comfortably from a fluorescent bean bag in the Hall of Awesomeness. Unlike most companies, we have the freedom sit wherever (and however) we want. And because comfort keeps the flow going, we wouldn’t even bat an eyelid if we spotted fellow teammates spending the day lying on their back! In Omar’s case, he’s been writing wonders (of copy) from a bean bag. His creative juices seem to flow effortlessly from this chilled out seat. We decided to uncover Omar’s philosophy behind the bean bag and how it has helped him so far. Check out the interview below:

So why the bean bag? [clear] You know Bruce Lee says that we should be formless like water, right? And when you put water in a cup it becomes a cup or when you put water in a kettle it becomes a kettle. [clear] So a bean bag is kind of like that because when you sit on it, it follows the shape of your body. And when that happens, I enter my comfort zone – as though I’m chilling at home. So even though I might be doing serious work, the bean bag makes my environment less serious. And I really like that idea. While some people prefer desks, I’d rather have a bean bag as an office chair.
Has your writing style changed since working from the bean bag? [clear] Actually no, not at all. Its exactly the same but the only difference is my back doesn’t hurt – which is great for me.
Would you say you’re happy writing from here? [clear] Absolutely. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Who wouldn’t want to write in an environment that lets you work comfortably? If you gave me a chair right now I’d probably throw it out the window. Okay maybe not out the window, but maybe use it as a table instead. :)
Well there you have it – the story behind Omar’s bean bag philosophy. We’d love to hear how you work at your office. Whether its a bean bag or a chair, share your stories with us below.
