According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/publication\/8210096_Transformational_and_Transactional_Leadership_A_Meta-Analytic_Test_of_Their_Relative_Validity\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">meta-analysis<\/a> published in the <em>Journal of Applied Psychology<\/em>, transformational leadership is closely tied to many indicators of effective management and business success. And that includes satisfied team members and proficient leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-leadership-vs-management\">Leadership vs. management<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The thing is, there\u2019s often confusion between these <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.mindvalley.com\/leadership-skills\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">leadership skills<\/a> and managerial ones. A transformational leader seeks to inspire; a manager seeks to organize and maintain efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s as Monty says: \u201c<em>If you\u2019re using your title to get someone to do something, that\u2019s management, and it\u2019s manipulation. You cannot manipulate your way to greatness<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-harnessing-love-driven-leadership-in-the-workplace\">Harnessing love-driven leadership in the workplace<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So now the elephant in the room: love.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c<em>Love is as important in business as it is at home<\/em>,\u201d Monty explains. \u201c<em>Maybe more because it&#8217;s not expected in business<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How does it fit into being a business leader? There\u2019s a lot more to this connection than meets the eye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As Monty suggests, love in the workplace isn\u2019t about romantic feelings. It\u2019s about this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Showing empathy, understanding, and respect.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Genuinely caring for your team members.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reducing barriers and minimizing judgment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You\u2019ve got to love your people. But how can you implement it into your own unique style? How can you lead in order to empower others to become leaders themselves?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here\u2019s what Monty Moran recommends. And not only will it inspire, but it\u2019ll also propel organizational growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-1-trust-your-people\">1. Trust your people<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What\u2019s one of the habits of successful people? Trust.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s the bedrock of any relationship\u2014even in business. In fact, <a href=\"https:\/\/clients.greatplacetowork.com\/list-calendar\/fortune-100-best-companies-to-work-for\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">data<\/a> from The Great Place to Work Institute found that the best workplaces are mainly defined by trust between managers and employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But it\u2019s not just about delegating people. It\u2019s about employee motivation and empowerment.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c<em>If we start to trust human beings to be people who want to do right [and] want to do good, we will lead them much differently<\/em>,\u201d explains Monty. \u201c<em>If we don\u2019t believe that they\u2019re fundamentally good, instead of leading them, we feel that we have to manage them<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When you demonstrate trust in your team, you\u2019re saying that you believe in their capabilities. And you acknowledge that their talents can make meaningful contributions to your organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tip from Monty Moran:<\/strong> \u201c<em>You\u2019ve got to trust your people. People deserve to be trusted. We tend to underestimate people. Don\u2019t underestimate people. Everyone is brilliant. Everyone has something excellent to offer. We just need to unlock that excellence by empowering them to be at their very best<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-2-connection-is-fundamental\">2. Connection is fundamental<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s no surprise that where there\u2019s authentic love for another human being, there\u2019s bound to be a great connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c<em>Love and human connection are actually what\u2019s at the core of why I led the way I did<\/em>,\u201d says Monty. It\u2019s this <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.mindvalley.com\/charismatic-leadership\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">charismatic leadership<\/a> quality that made him well known as <em>the<\/em> Monty Moran of Chipotle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c<em>So many people are missing out on this because of things that are solvable, that we can cure, that we can change<\/em>,\u201d Monty adds,<em> <\/em>\u201c<em>like our egos, like our misinterpretations, that we think that we\u2019ve got to be great<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But it\u2019s not about getting along or working well together. It\u2019s that shared sense of purpose. So much so that, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shrm.org\/resourcesandtools\/tools-and-samples\/toolkits\/pages\/managing-for-employee-retention.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">research<\/a>, employees who felt deeply \u201cembedded\u201d in their organizations were more likely to stay with the company and perform at higher levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tip from Monty Moran:<\/strong> \u201c<em>No one is a stranger except that we define them as one. \u2026 But if we start to trust that they won\u2019t judge us, if we are the first ones to offer our vulnerability, to offer our love, to offer our presence, to offer our concern, our care, and our curiosity, if we offer that to anyone, the tendency is very strong that they will accept that and become more vulnerable themselves, become curious, let down their guard, let down their defenses.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>And what arises in that space created by that interaction is love. Whatever rises in that space is trust, warmth, connection\u2014and that\u2019s the way we need to be living our lives<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-3-cultivating-curiosity\">3. Cultivating curiosity<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Curiosity may have killed the cat, but in a business setting, it fosters a culture of learning, innovation, and continuous improvement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c<em>Curiosity is one of the most beautiful and powerful forces of love in this world<\/em>,\u201d Monty says.
