When you don’t test your coaching methodology, you are setting yourself up for failure.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Without a comprehensive testing and evaluation system, you have no idea if your coaching methodology will do what you say it’s going to do.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

You’re a coach with integrity which means it’s not just about creating a coaching methodology…<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It’s about creating a proven coaching methodology. One that works.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The first thing you need to understand…<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Be ready to test and evaluate your methodology again and again and again, because that’s the only way to achieve what we’re looking for…<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The certainty of results.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The certainty of results means your coaching methodology gives your clients the results they are looking for when they follow through with the processes you share with them.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

When you have achieved certainty of results, you know your methodology will help them get to a goal or a point in their life or business without question or doubt.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"How<\/span>\"How<\/span><\/p>\n

So how do you test and evaluate your coaching methodology?<\/span><\/p>\n

Based on 3 markers: size, diversity, and varied outcomes.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

To exemplify, let’s go with our running example of a performance coach for CEOs who want to achieve their personal and professional goals in the shortest time.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"How<\/span>Make sure your methodology works on 5, 10, or 15 CEOs or even more. The more people you work with using your methodology, the more confidence you will gain that it has the power to produce consistent, reliable results.<\/span>\"How<\/span>Your methodology needs to work in diverse settings. This means you need to go ahead and test your methodology on CEOs and high-level executives working in different parts of the world, who come from different cultures and backgrounds.<\/span>\"How<\/span><\/p>\n

Not every CEO will achieve the same outcome when they work with you and your methodology. This is not a bad thing. It just means that individual outcomes will land within a spectrum of possibilities that you must identify and clarify. Doing this will create authenticity and credibility for your methodology.<\/span><\/p>\n

Don’t stop testing and evaluating until your coaching methodology is validated and you are sure it can produce results in various settings and on a consistent basis (see Chapter 5<\/a> for a special template to test and evaluate your methodology).<\/span><\/p>\n

The following exercises are designed to help you kickstart the creation of your own coaching methodology based on everything you read in this guide.<\/span><\/p>\n

You’ll find a series of 3 templates that will help you take the knowledge you just learned and turn it into focused action.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

But before we begin, here’s something you need to know…<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

You will NOT create your coaching methodology overnight.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It takes time for ideas to combine, learnings to come together and experiences to become a part of your being before you can create a coaching methodology that works and creates reliable, positive results for your clients.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

So don’t dismiss the following templates because they appear methodical or academic. They’ll help you bring together everything you know and create a methodology that is truly remarkable and transformational.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

We’ve used these templates for years at Evercoach and I’ve shared them with countless clients and student…<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And I can tell you with that they absolutely work.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I’d like for you to practice implementing these exercises regularly – ideally in 2 or 3-month cycles – until they become a natural part of your personal and business routine as a coach.<\/span><\/p>\n

Finding Your Central Ideas<\/p>\n

This first exercise is about training yourself to cultivate a mindset that embraces disjointed learning (see Chapter 2<\/a>). This template will help you identify your current thinking, beliefs, insights, and ideas around your niche or area of expertise.<\/p>\n

I want you to consciously expand your thinking by researching new or conflicting ideas that go against the norm.<\/p>\n

For instance, if you’re a health coach and you believe green juices are healthy for everyone, I want you to research and seriously consider information and data that states green juices are unhealthy (I Googled “green juices are unhealthy” and found a Time magazine article around this conflicting idea).<\/p>\n

Creating a Learning Plan<\/p>\n

This next exercise is about building a smart learning plan (see Chapter 3<\/a>). This template will help you consciously plan out your learning to create the biggest and most significant impact and improvement around skills that you need to create your coaching methodology in your area of expertise.<\/p>\n

For instance, if your goal is to be transformational coach or teacher who wants to speak to audiences around the world and to coach your clients around this area, I would plan my learning to focus on this goal.<\/p>\n

The first skill I would identify is speaking and maybe my method would be to attend a live workshop on that topic. The next month, I’d move on to understanding how to build my audience and my method would be to read a book about that and so on.<\/p>\n

Testing and Evaluating<\/p>\n

The final exercise is about planning out your test and evaluation system, so you are sure to hit all 3 markers that I mentioned in this guidebook (see Chapter 4<\/a>) – size, diversity, and varied outcomes. This template will help you take any methodology you create to test and evaluate its validity in a comprehensive, reliable way.<\/p>\n

To get the most out of your testing and evaluating the process, I want you to start testing on individuals first. Make sure you choose people who will give you immediate feedback on their transformation.<\/p>\n

An individual coaching environment lets you record precise results because you are focused on a single person and not a whole group. When you are more confident about your methodology, you can move on to testing on groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
