Make it personal<\/h3>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Think of it as if you were having an individual conversation with every single person in the audience.<\/p>\n<h3>2. Get interactive<\/h3>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">A great way to attract your audience, draw them in, and make them stick all the way till the end of your speech is to engage with them.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Try asking questions, telling jokes, and sharing personal stories that are relatable. Make sure your speech is a two-way street with your audience.<\/p>\n<h3>3. Memorize concepts, not content<\/h3>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">If there&#8217;s only one thing you take away from this video, it has to be this:<\/p>\n<p><strong data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Don&#8217;t memorize your speech.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Instead, create a bullet-point list of what you want to cover, main ideas, stories, and takeaways for each bullet.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Memorize that concept list and practice it until you can go through the whole flow of the speech flawlessly.<\/p>\n<h3>4. Body language is everything<\/h3>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\"><a style=\"outline: none;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.masterclass.com\/articles\/how-to-use-the-7-38-55-rule-to-negotiate-effectively\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" aria-label=\"According to research - opens in new tab\" data-uw-styling-context=\"true\" data-uw-rm-brl=\"false\" data-uw-rm-ext-link=\"na\">According to research<\/a>, 55% of meaning is communicated through nonverbal communication, a.k.a. body language.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Be very aware of your posture, how you move across the stage, and how you stand. Pay attention to how you show up.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Do you tend to cross your arms? Do you make eye contact with your audience? Do you smile?<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Practice in front of a mirror, a friend, or a family member so you can work on your body language and be more comfortable once you&#8217;re delivering the real thing.<\/p>\n<h3>5. Speak regularly<\/h3>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">As they always say, practice makes perfect.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Build your public speaking skills and gain confidence by practicing.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Join a club, participate in events, apply to speaking gigs, practice at an open mic night, and so on.
