To do that, you\u2019ll need a lot more than a deep desire to help others\u2026<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Here are three crucial entrepreneurial skills and character traits that you need to cultivate if you want to become a <a style=\"outline: none;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mindvalley.com\/blog\/6-figure-coaching-business-in-6-months\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-uw-styling-context=\"true\" aria-label=\"successful 6-figure coach - opens in new tab\" data-uw-rm-brl=\"false\" data-uw-rm-ext-link=\"na\">successful 6-figure coach<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">1. Think like an entrepreneur, act like a coach<\/h2>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">You are a coach. You always will be.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">But you\u2019re also a business owner. An entrepreneur.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">This means you must be able to switch between the two roles whenever you need to.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Put on your \u201ccoach hat\u201d when you\u2019re in session with a client. Bring on the skills that make you a passionate, committed coach. Listen, ask the right questions, and dedicate yourself entirely to the process.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">But when you\u2019re outside a session, you are an entrepreneur.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Understand that your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mindvalley.com\/ultimate-guide-on-how-to-start-a-coaching-business?utm_source=blog_hyperlink&amp;utm_campaign=evergreen_sycb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" aria-label=\"coaching business - opens in new tab\" data-uw-styling-context=\"true\" data-uw-rm-brl=\"false\" data-uw-rm-ext-link=\"na\">coaching business<\/a> is a business, and a business needs to make money. Make sure you\u2019re always aware of your sales numbers, engagement numbers, likes on social media, comments on your blog posts\u2026<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Look at your expenses, your profits, and your losses and do it regularly. If you don\u2019t, you will have no idea what\u2019s working and what\u2019s not working in your business.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Never forget that in order to help people as a coach, you need to stay in business\u2026<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">And to stay in business, you need to think like an entrepreneur.<\/p>\n<h2 data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">2. Learn to love selling<\/h2>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">You can\u2019t be a great coach if you can\u2019t sell your services.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Many passionate and incredibly gifted coaches are on the brink of failure (or have already quit) because they refuse to learn how to sell.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\" data-uw-rm-mod=\"\">While there\u2019s no need to be pushy or come off as a \u201csleazy\u201d car salesman, you do need to get a good grip on the art and craft of selling your coaching services, products, and programs.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Here\u2019s the simple truth: you can\u2019t help people if they don\u2019t know how you can help them, and a big part of selling is talking about the results you can help people achieve.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Think about it this way\u2026<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Selling is just a way to tell people how you can help them. No matter how much you want to avoid it, train yourself to make the client calls, write the social media posts, and create other content that will sell your services.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Read books, attend seminars, and take courses that will give you the knowledge to sell with authentic confidence. It\u2019s the only way you can stay in business and create a successful <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mindvalley.com\/blog\/how-to-become-an-unstoppable-force-for-success-in-your-coaching-practice\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-uw-styling-context=\"true\" aria-label=\"coaching practice - opens in new tab\" data-uw-rm-brl=\"false\" data-uw-rm-ext-link=\"na\">coaching practice<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">3. Do the math<\/h2>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\" data-uw-rm-sr=\"\">Are you aware of your income goals per year? Let\u2019s imagine you want to make $100k per year through your coaching practice.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Now think about how many hours you need to work per week to hit that number.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\" data-uw-rm-sr=\"\">If you\u2019re currently charging $100 an hour and you want to work 10 hours a week, you\u2019re never going to get there (you\u2019ll only make about $52,000 per year).<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">When the math doesn\u2019t add up, it\u2019s a sign that it\u2019s time to adjust your prices or your hours\u2014or both. Do your homework, check the prices in the marketplace, and then choose prices based on your yearly income goals.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">I can\u2019t tell you how many coaches I know who undercharge and end up working too hard and too long. This is the fastest route to lose your passion for coaching\u2026 and eventually your entire coaching practice.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">So don\u2019t be afraid to charge well.
