{"id":11881,"date":"2018-05-31T19:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-06-01T03:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mindvalley.com\/?p=11881"},"modified":"2025-09-26T12:41:53","modified_gmt":"2025-09-26T17:41:53","slug":"how-to-reach-peak-performance-4-habits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mindvalley.com\/coach\/blog\/how-to-reach-peak-performance-4-habits\/","title":{"rendered":"How to reach peak performance with these 4 simple, high-impact daily habits"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Peak performance isn\u2019t just for athletes.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">As coaches, we need to help clients get past a diverse range of emotional, physical, mental, and even spiritual challenges.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">This demands deep focus, concentration, and flexible thinking.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\" data-uw-rm-mod=\"\">After thousands of hours working with coaches, speaking at events and leading coaching programs and masterminds\u2026<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">I\u2019ve come to rely on a number of personal, peak performance habits that help me coach at a very high level, even on those long days when I spend hours and hours on stage or with clients.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Here are four of my favorite peak performance habits that will keep you sharp, confident, and creative no matter how challenging your circumstances.<\/p>\n<h2 data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">1. Create a morning ritual<\/h2>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">I\u2019ve been turning to a morning ritual\u2014I call it my Morning Bliss\u2014to kickstart my day for a while now, and it\u2019s a massive needle-mover for me.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">My personal morning ritual is a mix and match of practices that include meditation, reading an uplifting book or listening to a great podcast, and getting in a short workout to get some movement and energy going.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">I switch this ritual up ever so often to keep things fresh.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">You can go ahead and create your own morning ritual to start your day with an energetic and emotional boost.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Just make sure your ritual includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Some sort of physical movement<\/li>\n<li data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">A book, video or podcast that helps you get into a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mindvalley.com\/blog\/6-positive-character-traits-for-success\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" aria-label=\"positive mindset - opens in new tab\" data-uw-styling-context=\"true\" data-uw-rm-brl=\"false\" data-uw-rm-ext-link=\"na\">positive mindset<\/a><\/li>\n<li data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Meditation or sitting still for a few minutes to center yourself and create focus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">You may not notice much of a change when you first start practicing your ritual, but stick with it.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">In a couple of weeks, you\u2019ll find you can manage longer periods of coaching or working on your business minus exhaustion, distraction, and frustration.<\/p>\n<h2 data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">2. Give yourself long breaks<\/h2>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">A day or two isn\u2019t enough.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">If you\u2019re serious about your work as a coach, you need to get serious about giving yourself time away from coaching.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">So, I\u2019m going to give you permission to do that.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Go on holiday with your partner. Go on a \u201cbucket list\u201d trip with your friends. Travel solo.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">It doesn\u2019t matter where you go as long as you leave your work and your everyday life behind.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">When you coach for months\u2014or years\u2014without taking a break from your business and your clients, you\u2019ll end up burned out and drained of creative energy.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">This is a certainty.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">If you\u2019re not sure if you need a break, here are three symptoms that show you it\u2019s time:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">You constantly feel frustrated and annoyed<\/li>\n<li data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">You feel bored when you work on your <a style=\"outline: none;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mindvalley.com\/ultimate-guide-on-how-to-start-a-coaching-business?utm_source=blog_hyperlink&amp;utm_campaign=evergreen_sycb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" aria-label=\"coaching business - opens in new tab\" data-uw-styling-context=\"true\" data-uw-rm-brl=\"false\" data-uw-rm-ext-link=\"na\">coaching business<\/a><\/li>\n<li data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">You\u2019re always tired and lethargic<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">If any or all of these symptoms are showing up in your life right now, stop everything and book that holiday.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Regular, long breaks are the most powerful and effective\u2014not to mention fun\u2014way to inject new enthusiasm, creativity, and dedication into your coaching.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">You get to relax and enjoy yourself, and your clients get to work with a coach who creates results.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Everybody wins.<\/p>\n<h2 data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">3. Reconnect with your vision<\/h2>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">What I mean by \u201cvision\u201d is the vision you have for yourself and your <a style=\"outline: none;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mindvalley.com\/ultimate-guide-to-start-an-online-coaching-business?utm_source=blog_hyperlink&amp;utm_campaign=evergreen_sycb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" aria-label=\"coaching business - opens in new tab\" data-uw-styling-context=\"true\" data-uw-rm-brl=\"false\" data-uw-rm-ext-link=\"na\">coaching business<\/a>. If you don\u2019t have a vision yet, now\u2019s the time to create one.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Take a few minutes to reflect on why you\u00a0<a style=\"outline: none;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mindvalley.com\/blog\/secret-to-becoming-a-successful-coach\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-uw-styling-context=\"true\" aria-label=\"became a coach - opens in new tab\" data-uw-rm-brl=\"false\" data-uw-rm-ext-link=\"na\">became a coach<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Here are a few questions to get you started. Ask yourself:<\/p>\n<p><em data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">What is it that you want to achieve?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">What is the legacy and the impact you want to have?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">How do you want your clients to feel after working with you?<\/em><\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Your vision doesn\u2019t have to be about ending world hunger or creating world peace. It can be as simple as \u201cI want to help people feel good.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">The most important thing is that your vision needs to move you and motivate you to keep growing and expanding your skills as a coach.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Your vision must also be big enough to give you a sense of purpose and to inspire excitement and enthusiasm.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">A great vision will help you look past everyday frustrations so you can focus on the big picture.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">To make the most of your vision, write it down or create an image collage and put this up where you can see it every day.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Doing this will reconnect you to your true purpose as a coach and help you continue to give your best in everything you do.<\/p>\n<h2 data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">4. Take care of your body<\/h2>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Some coaches I know go for long periods during their workday without food, water, or even bathroom breaks.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">They say they\u2019re too busy serving their clients.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">This is a massive mistake, and it will greatly diminish your performance as a coach.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Your body is your temple. Treat it as such.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">When you don\u2019t take care of your body, you\u2019ll ultimately end up burned out or worse\u2014fighting a serious condition such as adrenal fatigue.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">When your body and your health are not operating at the highest level, your thinking gets fuzzy.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">You\u2019ll find yourself fumbling for answers or feeling like you\u2019re up against a brick wall when your clients come to you for help or advice.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">This is the worst thing you can do for your clients and your reputation as a coach.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">So always make your health a number one priority.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">These are four of my personal peak performance habits that helped me consistently improve and expand on my coaching skills.
