Their job is to guide and motivate people to create their dream reality, whatever that may be.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">I can\u2019t think of anything more fulfilling than helping people achieve their highest potential and their biggest goals. That\u2019s the reason why I became a coach.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">But it\u2019s not all sunshine and rainbows in the world of coaching.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">There are challenges, obstacles, and painful realizations that I wish I\u2019d known from the beginning. This would not have made a difference in my choice to be a coach\u2014I love what I do\u2014but it would have been a less bumpy ride.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Here are 3 cold, hard truths about coaching every coach should know from the start.<\/p>\n<h2 data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">1. You\u2019ll fail, regularly<\/h2>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">I was a newbie coach when I experienced my first massive failure.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">I was set on selling my first long-term coaching package. I\u2019d spent weeks and weeks\u2014hundreds of hours in total\u2014fine-tuning it and reworking every single piece.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">It happened that, during this time, I was scheduled to give one of my first-stage presentations as a coach. It was for a two-day retreat.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">I\u2019d spent over 40 hours in one-on-one coaching sessions with event participants throughout that weekend. My speech was one of the last ones on the agenda, and I thought I\u2019d share my coaching package at the end of my presentation, onstage.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">I was pretty sure I\u2019d have at least 30 people sign up\u2014they\u2019d all expressed interest when I mentioned it to them during the 1-on-1s.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">But when I finally shared my offer, just four people enrolled. Looking back, this is a pretty okay number for a brand <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mindvalley.com\/blog\/how-to-become-a-new-coach\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-uw-styling-context=\"true\" aria-label=\"new coach - opens in new tab\" data-uw-rm-brl=\"false\" data-uw-rm-ext-link=\"na\">new coach<\/a>, but at that time it felt like a total failure.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">I was crushed.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">But here\u2019s the thing\u2026<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Experiencing that failure\u2014and the ones that came after\u2014helped me gain insights on what worked and what didn\u2019t \u2026<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Both as a coach and as an entrepreneur.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">These failures were pivotal in helping me grow a successful and sustainable\u00a0<a style=\"outline: none;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mindvalley.com\/ultimate-guide-to-start-an-online-coaching-business\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-uw-styling-context=\"true\" aria-label=\"coaching business - opens in new tab\" data-uw-rm-brl=\"false\" data-uw-rm-ext-link=\"na\">coaching business<\/a>. They also helped me become the coach I am today.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Now I\u2019ve learned to enjoy the hits and be cool with the misses.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Failures are part of the long game.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">And learning to stay resilient when you fall flat is the key to becoming a rockstar coach with a fulfilling, highly profitable business.<\/p>\n<h2 data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">2. Your work won\u2019t \u201cspeak\u201d for you<\/h2>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Many talented coaches believe the work they do and the results they get for clients are more than enough to create consistent success.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">I wish this was true, but it\u2019s not.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">The coaching industry is a crowded space. This isn\u2019t a bad thing, but it means you need to step up and market yourself.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Share testimonials from happy clients on your social media pages, on your website, and anywhere else you can think of.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Ask for referrals from past clients. Put yourself out there and share your message on social media platforms.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Anything to keep you at the top of potential clients\u2019 minds and in their hearts.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Stepping out and speaking up about yourself and your services will give you the traction you need to create a full schedule of clients.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Staying silent will do the opposite.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">So, make a commitment to speak up about yourself\u2026<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Because your work won\u2019t speak for you.<\/p>\n<h2 data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">3. You\u2019ll enjoy a lot of freedom<\/h2>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Coaching is an excellent \u201clifestyle\u201d business.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">You can travel the world and hold sessions with your clients online. You can decide not to work on a weekday afternoon and watch a movie instead.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">There\u2019s a lot of freedom when you run your own business, but there\u2019s also a hard limit to that freedom.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">Being a coach with your\u00a0<a style=\"outline: none;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mindvalley.com\/ultimate-guide-on-how-to-start-a-coaching-business\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-uw-styling-context=\"true\" aria-label=\"coaching business - opens in new tab\" data-uw-rm-brl=\"false\" data-uw-rm-ext-link=\"na\">coaching business<\/a>\u00a0is not just about doing what you want, how you want, and when you want.<\/p>\n<p data-uw-styling-context=\"true\">It involves a lot of hard work. It involves a lot of sacrifice.
