"This quest has helped me achieve that goal"
As a 61 year old man, reducing my sugar intake is a top priority issue for me.
I have no emotional attachment to sugar, I just enjoy eating it. Too much of it. As a result, my sugar levels are now at an all time high, way over in the red. Time to take action. So, I took the Sugar-free Mindvalley quest.
I’m so pleased that I did.
I set the bar high. My goal was to see if I could half my intake of refined sugar during the workweek. That would be marvellous.
From my previous experience with Mindvalley courses I decided to elongate this 7 day quest into a 14 day quest (and not to participate during the weekend), as I like taking things slower than the faster Mindvalley pace. So, each day became two days. On the weekends I didn’t refer to the quest, instead I allowed myself to ingest whatever I wanted but in a state of mentally awareness, consuming in moderation, eating much smaller portions and definitely not going back second helpings (particularly difficult for me).
I got into the habit of turning the sugared goods in front of me, into an imaginary statue of white sugar. “Oh look, cake” becomes “Oh look, a white sugar statue of a cake”. My mind sees all of that white sugar. My stomach says “No thank you, I’ll pass on that”. This remains a most effective strategy for me, far better than the sugar devil avatar mentioned in the quest (sorry, I couldn’t relate to it).
Well, the results are in, and they are surprisingly motivating:
- I’m more sugar-aware on a day by day, hour by hour level
- I’m consuming far less sugar than ever, even over the weekends
- During the workday week I’ve reduced my sugar intake by up to 50-75%, this alone, is remarkable
My goal was never to completely eradicate sugar from my diet, only to seriously reduce my intake.
This quest has helped me achieve that goal.
I want to thank team Mindvalley for offering this most important of quests free for everyone. Applauding here.
