Used AI to write team anthems that built culture and eased colleagues into the AI era
An Information Systems professional used AI-assisted songwriting to transform abstract systems thinking into playful, empowering anthems that strengthened team culture and helped colleagues embrace AI as a creative amplification tool rather than a threat.
Overview
This project explores AI as a creative empowerment tool through two AI-assisted songwriting experiments, where I guided and shaped the lyrical direction to strengthen morale, shared identity, and cultural alignment within our Information Systems working group:
1. Too Many Tabs, Too Many Windows – a playful reflection on digital overwhelm.
2. Regenerating, Elevating – a knowledge-informed anthem created for our four-person Information Systems working group, designed to strengthen team empowerment through living systems thinking, designing for an impactful year, and ethical AI stewardship.
Both pieces were created through intentional human-AI collaboration, using structured prompting and iterative refinement. While initially developed for our Information Systems team, the songs have since been shared across overlapping organizational groups as a cultural window into our work and values. This has helped ease people into the AI era as well.
Objectives
- Use AI-assisted lyric creation as a team empowerment and culture-building tool in low-risk, high-creativity contexts.
- Explore the difference between light prompting and knowledge-fed thematic prompting.
- Translate abstract systems thinking into emotionally resonant language.
- Strengthen team identity and empowerment through creative expression.
- Lighten heavy technical conversations and gently introduce AI into the workplace for colleagues who may be hesitant or resistant.
Methodology
Song 1 – Playful Prompting
- Brought a real-life moment of digital overwhelm ("too many tabs and too many windows") as the originating creative concept, literally.
- Allowed AI to generate structured verses and chorus.
- Focused on relatability, humor, and rapid iteration.
- Treated AI as a brainstorming partner rather than final authority.
Song 2 – Knowledge-Fed Anthem (“Regenerating Elevating”)
- Supplied structured content about living systems, regeneration, ethics, AI integration, and team transformation.
- Directed tone toward empowerment, stewardship, and forward momentum.
- Iterated to align language with regenerative principles and team values.
Tools Used
- Claude - aka Smudge - (lyric generation and iteration for the team anthem)
- SUNO Music generation platform (for song production and lyrics for Too Many Tabs)
- Slack and Zoom screen share to share songs with my colleagues
Achievements
- Demonstrated how AI can be used to empower small teams through shared language, humor, vision, and song.
- Converted complex systems thinking into accessible, energizing lyrics.
- Reinforced that AI amplifies clarity of human intention.
- Built confidence in rapid creative prototyping using AI tools.
- Generated morale uplift and engagement within a four-person Information Systems working group and extended that energy across cross-functional organizational groups.
- Provided a low-pressure, playful entry point for colleagues to see AI as an amplifying tool rather than a threatening replacement.
Key Learnings
- Structured context significantly improves thematic depth.
- AI is most effective when guided with clear objectives and values.
- Creative experimentation can strengthen culture and team alignment.
- AI collaboration can be joyful, energizing, and strategically useful.
