A financial coach turned her teaching into a patient AI assistant for students
A financial coach built a custom AI assistant that answers Financial Peace University students' questions around the clock, in her own tone and values.
Vielka is a financial coach who guides students through Financial Peace University. She took the questions she hears again and again and shaped them into Coach Vielka AI, a patient helper that stays true to her values. Her story shows how a coach can extend their care without losing the human relationship at its heart.
Before
Vielka coaches students through Financial Peace University, a structured program on budgeting, debt elimination and long-term stability. The same questions came up during and after class, again and again. Help was only there in the sessions, and the gaps between them left students waiting.
“It acts as a scalable extension of my role as a financial coach without replacing the human relationship.”

The turning point
In the program, she began to see AI as a way to scale her expertise rather than replace it. She listed the most common questions her students ask and built a ChatGPT Custom GPT around curated, Ramsey-aligned knowledge. Through prompt engineering, she set clear guardrails for tone, values and boundaries.
“The system is intentionally designed to guide, educate, and reinforce learning rather than “solve” finances for the user.”

After
Today Coach Vielka AI works as an extension of her role as a coach. It answers in an encouraging, non-judgmental voice, stays within the Ramsey approach, and avoids advice outside its scope. She designed it on purpose to guide and educate rather than solve anyone's finances for them.
What it lets people do
Students can get consistent, patient guidance at any hour, even between sessions, such as help making a monthly budget. That builds their confidence and reinforces what they learn in class, while the coach spends less time on repeat questions.
What they learned
Vielka learned that good AI starts with boundaries and with anticipating what people really need. For her, a helpful assistant has to support people emotionally as well as informationally, while keeping trust, tone and values intact.
“I learned the importance of defining boundaries, anticipating user intent, and creating AI that supports people emotionally as well as informationally.”
