Cut deck creation from 8–15 hours to under 5 minutes per document
A consulting team built an AI pipeline that transforms project documents into executive presentations in under 5 minutes—180 times faster than manual work. Tested across 19 real strategic projects, it achieved 100% structural compliance while eliminating hours of formatting labor.
Project Description:
DeckIQ is a fully automated pipeline that transforms any uploaded document into a structured executive presentation in under 5 minutes. It uses the SCQR framework (Situation–Complication–Question–Resolution) to restructure raw project documents into 15–25 enriched slides — complete with BLUF headlines, visual design specs, and speaker notes — with zero manual intervention.
Achievements: The pipeline was tested on a real consulting engagement with MEKA (industrial manufacturer, 110+ countries), processing all 19 strategic transformation project documents and producing 300+ structured slides. Time per document dropped from 8–15 hours to under 5 minutes — a 180x improvement. Every output achieved 100% SCQR compliance with consistent formatting across all projects.
Tools: ChatGPT Custom GPT (GPT-4o) with Actions, n8n Cloud (webhook automation), Airtable (structured database), OpenAPI 3.1.0 (API bridge), Gamma AI (slide generation), Google NotebookLM (audio briefing & Q&A)
Methodology: User uploads a document to the Custom GPT. DeckIQ analyzes the full content, restructures it into an 11-section SCQR executive flow, enriches it with industry benchmarks and best practices, outputs copy-paste-ready markdown, then sends all structured data to Airtable via n8n webhook. The enriched markdown feeds directly into Gamma AI for visual slides and NotebookLM for audio overviews.
Learnings: Prompt engineering for strict output formatting requires explicit FORBIDDEN rules — not just instructions on what to do. Knowledge files must not conflict with system instructions. The 8,000-character GPT Instructions limit forces precision. Webhook order matters: show output first, then call the API. Auto-continue instructions solve ChatGPT's token truncation for long outputs.
