A daily habit of checking rates became an email that arrives on its own
A Make workflow that reads the Bank of Canada's rate page and emails a clean HTML table every day, with no manual checks.
This student wanted to follow the Bank of Canada's Policy Interest Rate without leaning on mainstream media. During the Mindvalley AI Mastery Program, they built an automated workflow that fetches the rate, untangles a complex web table and delivers it as a tidy daily email. It is a clear example of turning one small personal frustration into a working system.
Automated Bank of Canada Policy Interest Rate Updates
Before
Staying on top of the Bank of Canada's Policy Interest Rate meant checking for it by hand or relying on mainstream media. They wanted the source itself, delivered daily, without the repetitive effort. The rate lived inside a complex HTML table, which made pulling it out automatically a real challenge.
“This project solves a personal challenge of staying updated on the Policy Interest Rate set by the Bank of Canada without relying on mainstream media.”

The turning point
The Mindvalley AI Mastery Program gave them the tools, guidance and confidence to tackle it. Using Make, they chained together an HTTP request, an HTML-to-text conversion and pattern-matching parsers to isolate the exact rows and columns they needed. Along the way they sharpened their troubleshooting and error-handling to make the workflow reliable.
“The Mindvalley AI Mastery Program was instrumental in the success of this project, providing the tools, guidance, and confidence needed to design and execute this innovative solution.”

After
Now the update simply arrives. Their workflow aggregates the extracted data, composes it into a clear HTML table and emails it every day. What used to be a manual check is a fully automated notification.
What it lets people do
The system delivers the latest Bank of Canada rate straight to the inbox in an easy-to-read table. It saves time, keeps updates consistent, and helps someone stay informed and make proactive decisions without lifting a finger.
What they learned
They learned how to read and format complex web tables dynamically, and how to present financial data so it is clear and concise. Above all, they saw the value of automation in removing repetitive tasks and keeping information consistent.
“Realized the value of automation in reducing repetitive tasks and ensuring consistency in updates.”
In their own words
