Five years of bedtime picture books became a full children's app brand

An interactive storybook app for kids 8–12, built from picture books drawn with a daughter and rendered into a full brand with AI.

This parent spent five years drawing picture books with their daughter, and also brought executive coaching frameworks to the table. During the program they turned those sketches and manuscripts into Hamster, a complete children's app brand with characters, a pitch deck and a webpage. It shows how years of quiet creative work can become something real when paired with the right tools.

Hamster

Before

For five years, they had been drawing picture books with their daughter. They also carried executive coaching frameworks from their work. The pieces were there, hand-drawn sketches and manuscripts, but not yet a product other children could use.

“Born from 5 years of picture books drawn with my daughter, powered by executive coaching frameworks, reimagined for the AI generation.”

The turning point

In the program they began treating AI as a creative partner. They researched the market, named the brand, and turned hand-drawn sketches into watercolor art using fixed brand hex colors. Every output went through multiple rounds of visual QA and copy refinement.

“AI is a creative partner, not just a tool — the best outputs came from workshopping options and iterating, not expecting a perfect first draft”

After

Today they have Hamster: a brand guide, brand architecture and six original characters, plus an investor pitch deck, founder narrative, app UI mockups and a project webpage. They are now animating the characters and launching Instagram to test the market.

What it lets people do

Hamster is an inclusively designed interactive storybook app. It teaches kids 8 to 12 human skills like AI literacy, emotional intelligence, leadership, creativity, technology etiquette and self-discovery.

What they learned

They found the best results came from workshopping options and iterating, not expecting a perfect first draft. Clear brand constraints kept work consistent across tools. Most of all, the years of real stories gave the AI something worth building on.

“The strongest asset wasn't AI — it was 5 years of manuscripts that gave AI something real to build on”

In their own words

Hamster was built during AI Mastery.
