A serious AI student wrote a silly song that turned a brutal week around

A self-described serious student used Suno to write a goofy song, and 30 minutes later the couple had 10 versions of it.

This student set out to use AI every day so it would not fly past them, and built real tools along the way. The moment that mattered most, though, came on a Saturday morning with a worn-out husband on the couch and a song break they had once skipped. It is a reminder that what you learn in the program can reach the people you love.

The Couch Potato Song

Before

They were trying hard not to become one of those people who scoff at new technology. They took every lesson seriously and forced themselves to use AI daily. When Vyk paused class for music and dance breaks, they resisted, worried that AI would get smarter before the song ended. They danced eventually, but with the camera off, and skipped the Suno lessons entirely.

“I want to be a participant not a bystander.”

The turning point

Their husband came home from a brutal week and sat on the couch with a zombie stare. Not knowing what to say, they remembered Vyk's song breaks. Over his protests that it sounded dumb, they downloaded Suno on the spot and began writing a song about not wanting to do anything on a sunny Saturday.

“But the man I loved was sitting across from me looking dejected and down, so screw it... Vyk used it, so I was going to try it too.”

In their own words

After

They played the ridiculous song, then another version, and a smile began to form. Within 15 minutes their husband had downloaded Suno too, and 30 minutes later they had 10 versions of their couch potato song. Alongside this, they kept building with AI, including a workflow for patents, a system to help job seekers detect scams, and personal tech support for their own tech stack.

What it lets people do

The song turned a heavy day into one full of laughter for two people who say they have no musical background. It shows how simple AI tools can help anyone create something playful together in minutes.

What they learned

They learned that AI is not only for tasks and efficiency. It can bring joy too, and the best use is the one that lightens real life for the people around you.

“Use AI in the way that makes your real world smile.”

In their own words

I am trying hard to not let AI fly past me so quickly. I don't want to turn into one of those "old" people who scoff at new technology and talk about the good ole days. I want to be a participant not a bystander. So I forced myself to use AI every day just like the teachers encouraged us. Each lesson I took seriously and really tried to be a good student. But then in the middle of this seriousness Vyk would impose these music & dance breaks! What the hell Vyk are you making us do? I have AI to learn! At the speed AI is changing, it will be 4x smarter by the end of the song. But Vyk is compelling so I eventually gave in and danced to his songs like no one was watching (because they weren't watching, I turned my camera off). But I'd always get back to being serious and do what I was taught—start small and build from there. I was consistent and used AI daily, eventually building things like a workflow for patents, a system to detect job scams for job seekers, and personal tech support for my tech stack. But nothing was as impactful as that Saturday morning my husband plopped on the couch dead from a brutal week. He had that zombie stare. I didn't know what to say to help, but at that moment Vyk's "annoying" song breaks flashed in my memory. I looked at my husband and said, we're going to write a song. He just glared at me as if I was insane and muttered variations on "no I don't want to" and "that sounds really dumb" and "neither of us have a musical bone in our bodies anyway." I said cheerfully, we don't have to, Suno will do it for us! (But honestly I didn't know if that was true because I'd ignored all the Suno and song stuff in class— so much for being a good student). But the man I loved was sitting across from me looking dejected and down, so screw it... Vyk used it, so I was going to try it too. I downloaded Suno right then and started writing a song on my phone about not wanting to do anything on a sunny Saturday afternoon. My husband grimaced the whole time. But I had faith in Vyk's AI song breaks, so I played my ridiculous song! My husband resisted, but I could see a smile starting to form. I played another version. Within 15 minutes, my husband had downloaded Suno and 30 minutes later we had 10 different versions of our couch potato song. We laughed a lot and had a great day! My biggest learning: AI isn't just for tasks and efficiencies. It can be for fun too. Use AI in the way that makes your real world smile. Thanks Vyk!
