From no typing skills to building a styling web app with AI and Airtable
A first-time builder used ChatGPT and Airtable to create Jay, an AI agent that helps a young woman dress with confidence.
This student started with no digital skills, not even typing. During their Mindvalley program they built Version 1 of a web app with ChatGPT and Airtable, guided by a clear sense of kindness toward the people it serves. Their story shows how far a beginner can go when they are given the tools and the belief to start.
Jay: AI styling assistant web app (Version 1)
Before
By their own account, they came to this with no skills at all, not even in typing. Building software, working with databases or designing an AI assistant would have seemed far out of reach.
“To know me coming from no skills not even in typing to be working on table after table in Airtable, is just amazing.”

The turning point
In the program they began working with ChatGPT and Airtable, learning to build piece by piece. They found themselves working on table after table in Airtable, shaping the structure of a real app. The progress filled them with gratitude toward Vishen and his team.
“I am so excited for this growth and development in my life that I cannot thank Vishen and his team enough.”

After
They have now built Version 1 of a web app with an AI agent called Jay. Jay helps a 21-year-old university student dress confidently for social events, job interviews and other important moments, using her body type and personality as part of the guidance. They are already planning next steps, including suggestions from online stores clients trust.
What it lets people do
Jay draws on a client's digital wardrobe and suggests outfits suited to her body and personality, with online shopping options if a needed piece is missing. It is built to speak politely about every client's choices and body shape, asks permission before using photos, and never requires anyone to buy anything.
What they learned
They learned that starting from zero is not a barrier to building something meaningful. Care for the user can be designed in from the start, from polite language to respecting permissions. And the growth itself, from no typing to running tables in Airtable, is something to celebrate.
“Polite language always with regards to client's choices or body shapes and types.”
In their own words
Jay: AI styling assistant web app (Version 1) was built during AI Mastery.
