Through the AI Mastery Program, this founder is building Kawari, a groundbreaking travel platform that removes financial barriers for unbanked individuals, migrants, and underserved travelers. By integrating innovative payment solutions and low-code tools, they're democratizing access to transformative travel experiences for those excluded from traditional systems.
Kawari is a groundbreaking platform designed to make travel more inclusive, accessible, and transformative for a diverse audience, including unbanked individuals, migrants, and travelers with financial limitations. While traditional travel platforms cater to those with conventional banking resources, Kawari fills a critical gap by offering innovative solutions for those who face barriers to accessing financial services.
Who We Serve:
- Unbanked Individuals: People without access to traditional bank accounts or credit cards.
- Migrants: Those who may lack eligibility for financial services in their host country.
- Financially Restricted Travelers: Individuals with limited or blocked credit, making it hard to plan or fund travel experiences.
- Nontraditional Consumers: Those who distrust traditional banking systems or prefer alternative payment options.
Core Features and Impact:
1. Financial inclusion: Kawari empowers users by providing interest-free installment payment plans for travel packages, enabling them to spread the cost of their journeys over time. This feature opens up travel opportunities for a wider audience who might otherwise find travel inaccessible due to financial constraints.
2. Alternative payment methods: Through strategic partnerships with fintech companies, Kawari enables users to make secure, flexible payments outside traditional banking frameworks.
3. Sustainability and cultural education: The platform prioritizes sustainability and encourages a "slow travel" mindset, focusing on meaningful and environmentally conscious travel experiences. Kawari integrates educational content to promote cultural appreciation and responsible tourism.
4. Streamlined experience: Kawari simplifies the complexities of travel planning by centralizing all information in one platform. Users can explore, book, and manage their trips seamlessly, ensuring that travel planning is hassle-free and enjoyable.
Relevance and Positive Impact:
Kawari bridges the gap between financial systems and a growing global population that remains underserved or excluded from traditional travel services. By removing financial barriers and embracing inclusivity, Kawari helps individuals discover the world, connect with new cultures, and create memories that transcend socio-economic limitations.
The platform’s installment plans not only make travel affordable but also reflect Kawari’s commitment to democratizing access to transformative experiences. For migrants, the unbanked, or those who prefer nontraditional financial systems, Kawari becomes a gateway to fulfilling their travel dreams, fostering both personal growth and cultural exchange.
This initiative underscores the belief that travel is a universal right and a powerful tool for self-discovery and transformation, regardless of financial or systemic limitations. Kawari isn't just about booking trips; it's about breaking barriers and opening doors to exploration, transformation, and inclusion for all.

Learnings
Strategic Tool Selection:
- Understood the importance of choosing the right tools for the project early on. Transitioning from Glide to FlutterFlow, while challenging, provided a deeper understanding of the capabilities and limitations of various low-code platforms.
Adaptability and Problem-Solving:
- Learned how to pivot effectively when encountering limitations with initial tools (Glide). This involved reevaluating the project's technical requirements and investing time in learning FlutterFlow, which offered greater flexibility and scalability.
Integration and Compatibility:
- Gained critical insights into how consistent data formatting ensures smoother integration between platforms like Airtable and FlutterFlow. Understanding the impact of naming conventions, API responses, and JSON structures was pivotal for dynamic data handling.
Prototyping Complex Ideas with Low-Code Tools:
- Developed expertise in leveraging FlutterFlow to prototype intricate ideas, including custom API integration and data visualization, without requiring extensive traditional coding.
Improved Understanding of API Configurations:
- Navigated the complexities of configuring Airtable APIs, including debugging issues, mapping JSON paths, and dynamically displaying data in the app's UI. These skills are transferable to other platforms and projects.
Branding and Design Alignment:
- Appreciated the value of cohesive branding and user experience design. Embedding Kawari’s identity into every element of the app, from the logo to navigation flow, demonstrated the impact of aesthetics on functionality and user trust.
Time Management and Prioritization:
- Realized the need to prioritize critical MVP components, especially when working with tight deadlines and steep learning curves. This has underscored the importance of breaking the project into achievable milestones.
Collaborative Tools and Community Resources:
- Recognized the value of collaborative tools and online resources. Engaged with documentation, tutorials, and forums to overcome specific technical challenges in both FlutterFlow and Airtable.
User-Centric Development:
- Adopted a mindset of user-centric design, focusing on the needs of unbanked travelers and others who face financial or systemic barriers. This shaped the functionality, payment options, and ethical approach of the app.
Big Picture Thinking:
- Learned to balance immediate technical tasks with the broader vision of Kawari, ensuring that every development decision aligns with the platform's mission of inclusivity, transformation, and connection..
Challenges Encountered
1. Initial Platform Limitations (Glide):
- Feature Limitations: Glide’s low-code simplicity couldn’t support complex actions such as secure external database integration and dynamic user interactions.
- Security Concerns: Internal tables in Glide lacked robust security measures for handling sensitive data like payments and user accounts.
- Time Wasted: Significant time was lost trying to adapt Glide for Kawari, even with a professional plan, but the platform proved unsuitable for the project’s needs.
2. Transition to FlutterFlow (FF):
- Starting from Scratch: Switching to FlutterFlow meant rebuilding the project without prior experience, resulting in additional time investment.
- Complex Integration: Learning to connect Airtable via APIs and configuring Firebase as a backend posed new technical challenges.
- Learning Curve: Navigating FlutterFlow's extensive features required considerable exploration to find and utilize the right tools for the app’s functionality.
3. Time Constraints:
- Balancing the steep learning curve of FlutterFlow with project deadlines led to delays. Rebuilding foundational components after transitioning from Glide to FlutterFlow was time-intensive.
4. API Challenges with Airtable:
- Debugging issues like naming conventions, JSON parsing, and dynamic data handling required significant effort to ensure Airtable data could seamlessly connect with FlutterFlow.
While the Kawari MVP is still a work in progress, each step forward brings me closer to transforming the way people explore the world. This marks the beginning of a journey fueled by innovation, inclusivity, and a commitment to making travel accessible for everyone. Thanks to the AI Mastery Program, I am building a platform that will inspire transformation, one traveler at a time.
