Built a live e-commerce platform in 8 days with zero coding skills

Quick summary

Armed with zero coding skills but 16 years of family storytelling magic, she built a live e-commerce platform in just 8 days that helps families worldwide create their own personalized superhero characters—proving that AI tools can turn passionate vision into production-grade business reality.

The Challenge: Building a Business Without Being a Developer

Eight days ago, I had a 16-year-old family story and zero technical coding skills. Today, I have a functional e-commerce platform processing real payments, orchestrating 7+ AI tools, managing dual customer flows, and delivering personalized content to families worldwide.

This is the promise of vibe-coding: turning natural language into production-grade systems. But it's also the test—can someone with vision but without traditional development skills actually BUILD and SHIP a real business in a week?

My Family Heroes proves the answer is yes.

What I Built (And Proved)

My Family Heroes is a live, functional platform that transforms families from content consumers into content creators. This is an MVP, ready for real-world trial, processing actual customer payments TODAY.

Origin Story

It began 16 years ago with "Super Lobito Tremendo"—a superhero character my husband invented for our then-4-year-old son. He brought this character to life through nightly storytelling, pulling our son and me into every adventure the superhero experienced.

Every evening, my husband would sit down with him—and later, with our other two boys—and create our family's special world. Super Lobito would crack jokes, get into mischievous situations, and debate obvious things with my husband while our children laughed uncontrollably. It became more than entertainment; it became our family's shared language.

Years later, we drew the character. We recorded a couple of podcasts. Eventually, we even created a physical puppet. But Super Lobito remained locked in our living room—a treasure our family cherished, but no one else could experience.

Then, 8 days ago, everything changed.

After watching Domenic's inspiring AI Mastery project, I challenged my family: What if we could build Super Lobito's world at scale? What if AI could transform our 16-year family creation into something other families could experience?

I started building the character in Nano Banana, creating multiple poses and expressions. Then I moved to Higgsfield to animate the static images into movement. In ElevenLabs, I cloned my husband's voice and created Super Lobito's distinct personality—first in Spanish (our original language), then recreated it in English to reach more families.

My husband and I outlined a simple episode showcasing Super Lobito's typical lovable mistakes. We brought it to Claude, which generated a complete production plan—an Excel sheet breaking down every scene, dialogue beat, and transition. Following that roadmap, I:

- Wrote the dialogues with Claude's help

- Composed background music in Suno

- Animated each scene in Higgsfield

- Assembled everything in Canva

The result: a 1.5-minute pilot episode that captured 16 years of family magic—now shareable with the world.

The Strategic Question That Changed Everything

Excited about the content we'd created, I was ready to start building products around Super Lobito Tremendo—merchandise, more episodes, YouTube channel for future viralization 😊

Then Claude asked me a challenging question: "Where's your market research?"

I hadn't done any. I was operating on passion and assumption.

So we stopped building and started researching. Using Claude as a strategic thinking partner, we conducted systematic market analysis:

What we discovered:

- The children's entertainment market is worth $100B+ but dominated by corporate franchises

- Parents are frustrated with algorithmically-optimized, culturally-generic content (Cocomelon, Paw Patrol)

- Creating custom children's IP traditionally costs $500K+ and takes 18+ months

- No viable alternative exists for families who want personalized content reflecting their unique values and culture

The financial modeling showed it was scalable:

- AI reduces production costs by 95%+ compared to traditional studios

- Personalization creates premium pricing opportunity

- Multiple revenue streams

The Pivot That Unlocked My Blue Ocean

I shared our Super Lobito content with colleagues from the AI Mastery program and from outside this community. Their feedback was unanimous and transformative:

"This is amazing... but I don't want Super Lobito for MY family. I want what you have—MY OWN family superhero."

That's when we realized: We were solving the wrong problem.

Red Ocean (where I was headed): Selling Super Lobito Tremendo merchandise and content—competing with thousands of established characters for attention and shelf space.

Blue Ocean (where we pivoted): Productizing the SYSTEM that creates personalized family superheroes—enabling ANY family to have what we have.

This wasn't about making Super Lobito famous. It was about democratizing the ability for families worldwide to create their own Super Lobito—their own hero reflecting THEIR culture, THEIR values, THEIR story.

The pivot transformed the business model:

- From: "Buy content about this one character" → To: "Create content about YOUR character"

- From: Competing in saturated character market → To: Creating new market category

- From: Ecuador-specific cultural product → To: Globally applicable personalization platform

- From: One-time purchases → To: Lifetime family IP ownership

Super Lobito Tremendo became our proof of concept—demonstrating what's possible when a family uses AI to bring their hero to life. But the real product is the platform that lets OTHER families do the same.

That's My Family Heroes.

From Pivot to Platform: What We Built in 8 Days

Once we identified the blue ocean opportunity, we had to prove it was technically viable. Not just conceptually—we needed a functional system that could actually deliver personalized heroes to real families.

Here's what we built:

Content Library Created:

- Character design assets (multiple poses and expressions for Super Lobito)

- 1.5-minute animated pilot episode (live on website as demo)

- Original instrumental background music

- Product templates: comics, coloring books, story layouts

- Bilingual (English/Spanish) content framework

Technical Infrastructure:

- Customer-facing website: Built with Lovable using natural language prompts (myfamilyheroes.studio)

- E-commerce backend: Shopify with 7 individual products + 3 bundle tiers ($29-$268)

- Payment processing: PayPal (active), UseePay credit cards (pending approval)

- Customer data system: Airtable integration capturing personalization questionnaires + order tracking

- Automated workflows: Email sequences (bilingual, order-specific links, timeline management)

Dual-Flow Customer Journey:

- Free tier: Direct website access → Basic hero profile → 1-2 day delivery

- Paid tier: Purchase → Automated email → Personalized questionnaire → 5-7 day custom content delivery

Real-World Validation:

- Platform live and accepting orders

- First free-tier customer successfully completed full workflow (form → Airtable)

- System ready for paid order testing

What Makes This Scalable: Current state is semi-manual (5-7 day fulfillment). The strategy: validate with our first 10 customers, monitor the flow, identify bottlenecks, refine processes, then automate. Financial modeling shows clear automation path: AI content generation pipelines reducing delivery to 24-48 hours at 10x lower cost per order.

Why This Scales Globally

Economic Access: What costs Disney $500K and 18 months costs families $29-268 and delivers in 5-7 days. But more importantly—families retain ownership of their intellectual property. They're not licensing Disney's values; they're creating and owning their own.

Cultural Universality: The platform works for a Maori family in New Zealand, a Muslim family in Malaysia, a single-parent household in Detroit, or a multigenerational family in Mumbai. Because it's not about one culture—it's about EVERY family's right to see themselves as heroes.

Technical Scalability: The system is designed for automation. Current state: semi-manual fulfillment (5-7 days). Next phase: full automation with AI-generated content pipelines delivering in 24-48 hours at 10x lower cost.

Dual-Flow Customer Experience:

- Free Tier: Families create basic hero profile (delivered 1-2 days) to experience the concept

- Paid Tier: Full personalized content packages ($29-268) with 5-7 day fulfillment after completing detailed hero questionnaire

Tools & Strategic Approach

AI Content Creation Stack:

- Claude (Anthropic): Market research, strategic planning, scriptwriting, production planning, financial modeling, copy creation

- Nano Banana: Character design and asset creation

- Suno: Original music composition

- ElevenLabs: Voice cloning and synthesis (Spanish + English)

- Higgsfield: Image-to-video animation

- Canva: Final assembly and layout design

No-Code Business Infrastructure:

- Lovable: Website development through conversational AI

- Shopify: E-commerce, inventory, order management

- Airtable: CRM, personalization data, order association

- Email Automation: Post-purchase sequences with dynamic content

Strategic Methodology:

1. Research first, build second: Market analysis before product development prevented expensive pivots

2. Feedback-driven iteration: Tested concept with real parents before scaling

3. Documentation discipline: All the process is documented in Notion

4. MVP mindset: Built minimum viable system to test core hypothesis, not perfect product

Why This Represents the Future of Building

This project demonstrates what becomes possible when AI tools mature beyond demos and actually work in production:

Non-developers can orchestrate complex systems. I coordinated Lovable, Shopify, Airtable, Claude, Suno, ElevenLabs, Higgsfield, and Canva—each specialized, each powerful—into one cohesive platform. The bottleneck wasn't technical skill. It was system thinking.

Iteration happens at conversation speed. When market research revealed we needed a dual-flow system (free vs. paid customers with different SLAs), implementing it didn't require hiring developers or learning frameworks. It required describing the logic clearly to Lovable and Claude.

Production-grade is achievable in days, not months. Real payments processing. Bilingual automation. Order tracking. Email workflows. Personalization systems. None of this required a development team. It required understanding what needed to exist and using AI tools to bring it to life.

My three children grew up with stories their father invented. Now, through vibe-coding, we've made it possible for ANY family to do the same—without $500K budgets or engineering degrees.

That's the democratization that matters.
