Built and deployed a full photography expedition website using AI, generating qualified leads

Quick summary

Roberta built and launched a fully functioning photography expedition website using an AI-native workflow—no traditional dev team required. The site has already generated qualified leads through its integrated quiz, proving that speed and intentional design can coexist when AI executes and human judgment leads.

Achievements: Designed, built, and deployed a fully functioning photography expedition website (robertamarroquinphotoexpeditions.com) entirely through an AI-native workflow, without a traditional web development team. The site includes an integrated lead-capture quiz that has already surfaced with 2 qualified leads / at least 3 high-intent inquiry.

Tools: Claude Design for initial concept and layout, Claude Code for development, GitHub for version control, Vercel for hosting and deployment, ScoreApp for the lead-capture funnel.

Methodology: A linear AI-assisted pipeline: concept and visual direction developed in Claude Design, translated into a working site through Claude Code, version-controlled through GitHub, and deployed live through Vercel. Voice and positioning were not left to the tools. Each decision, from the intimate, text-forward tone of the copy to the pacing of how destinations are presented, was made deliberately to differentiate the site from the generic, conversion-heavy templates common in the travel and workshop space. The AI executed; the judgment about what the site should feel like, and to whom it should speak, stayed my own throughout.

Learnings: Building fast with AI tools surfaces real gaps quickly, and testing the live site with trusted friends and colleagues has been essential to closing them. That feedback shaped tweaks to typography, navigation, and the overall coherence and readability of the information, along with fixing a conversion funnel that needed a working endpoint rather than a dead-end mailto link. Bringing all the workshops into a single ecosystem with a sticky menu has made the site far easier to navigate, though it is still a learning curve. Open items remain: mobile PDF readability and page load speed still need work, and next steps include bringing in a writer with marketing skills to proofread and sharpen the copy so the message lands more quickly, along with continuing to refine typography, particularly font size on mobile.
