With zero coding knowledge, they built an AI story app for children

A no-code app that writes illustrated children's stories with audio and answers kids' questions, built by someone who had never coded.

This student came to the AI Mastery class with no programming background at all. One tool introduced in class sparked an idea, and their nephew and friends' children gave it a purpose. The result is a working app that turns a button press into an illustrated, narrated story, proof that curiosity can be enough to start building.

Stefanie Binder
A self-described beginner with zero knowledge of programming or coding, and an aunt or uncle inspired by the children around them.

Children's Story App

Before

They had never written a line of code. Building an app sounded like something for programmers, not for them. They wanted to put what they were learning into practice but needed a real use case to make it stick.

“As someone with zero knowledge of programming or coding, I was immediately fascinated by the tool GlideApps when we were introduced to it in the AI Mastery class.”

The turning point

In the AI Mastery class, they were introduced to GlideApps and were immediately fascinated. They went looking for a way to apply it and found inspiration close to home, in their nephew and the children of friends. That gave them a reason to build.

“Later, I added another feature that answers children's questions with AI, generates a suitable image, and, if desired, creates also an audio response for the answer.”

In their own words

After

They built a children's story app in two parts. Press a button and a workflow creates a story with AI, adds images and, if wanted, audio. Later they added a second feature that answers children's questions with AI, generates a fitting image and can read the answer aloud.

What it lets people do

Children get stories made for them, with pictures and narration, at the press of a button. When they are curious about something, they can ask a question and get an answer with an image and an optional audio reply.

What they learned

They discovered how much is possible today without any programming skills. What felt out of reach became something they could build, simply by starting with a real person they wanted to make something for.

“It’s incredible what can be achieved without programming skills these days, and I’m grateful to have discovered GlideApps through the AI Mastery program.”

In their own words

Children's Story App was built during AI Mastery.

As someone with zero knowledge of programming or coding, I was immediately fascinated by the tool GlideApps when we were introduced to it in the AI Mastery class. To apply what I had learned, I looked for use cases and found inspiration from my nephew and other friends' children, which led me to create this app as my use case. The app consists of two parts: first, the creation of children's stories using AI, adding also images (workflow gets triggered when hitting a button in the App) and if required audio for the story, and more. Later, I added another feature that answers children's questions with AI, generates a suitable image, and, if desired, creates also an audio response for the answer. It’s incredible what can be achieved without programming skills these days, and I’m grateful to have discovered GlideApps through the AI Mastery program. Since it’s quite expensive, I’ll likely shut down the app after the trial period ends (I had created another account with one of my other email addresses to extend the use of the business account during the trial period).
