A custom GPT called WISE Storytelling co-wrote and illustrated The Keeper's Journey, episode by episode, through live guidance on mood and plot.
This student built a storytelling partner of their own, a custom GPT, and then used it to write The Keeper's Journey, an illustrated tale set in an ancient mansion. They wanted storytelling that could bend to a person's own choices, not a fixed script. The question was whether an AI could hold a mood, follow themes and take plot twists while still keeping one story whole.

The turning point
They built WISE Storytelling, a custom GPT that adapts to specific user inputs. Then they put it to work in a real collaboration, guiding it on mood, themes and even plot twists as it produced each episode.
After
The result is The Keeper's Journey, a cohesive story that follows a young protagonist on a haunting adventure through an ancient mansion, with images the GPT generated to match. Around it they assembled appendices with literary, symbolic and psychological analyses, a behind-the-scenes look at the craft, an article introducing the tool, and the full transcript of the original dialog.
What it lets people do
WISE Storytelling lets a person shape a story as it unfolds, steering tone, atmosphere and twists while the GPT writes and illustrates each episode. It turns a conversation into a tailored, immersive story.
What they learned
Their work suggests that an AI story is only as good as the guidance it receives. By responding to direction on mood, themes and twists, the tool could craft a story that stayed cohesive and true to the desired tone.
