Became the anchor my family needed through unimaginable loss

Quick summary

After losing family members to war, her home to mold, and her medical career to care for her critically ill husband, she turned to Mindvalley's coaching certification not just to learn—but to save herself and become the anchor her family desperately needed.

I joined Mindvalley four years ago as a way to support myself and better navigate life. At the time, I saw it as a personal development tool—something to help me grow, reflect, and stay grounded. I never imagined how essential that foundation would later become. The year 2025 became the most difficult year of my life. Within a matter of weeks, everything I knew was turned upside down. I lost family members as a result of the ongoing crisis between Russia and Ukraine (my country of origin). Shortly after, my family lost our home due to a severe black mold infestation, which caused my husband to become critically ill. At the same time, I was forced to step away from my lifelong dream of becoming a doctor during the final years of medical school in order to care for my husband and our two children. We also lost our primary source of income. I brought my mother to the United States to protect her from the war. Suddenly, I was responsible not only for my immediate family but also for helping my mother rebuild her life in a new country. The weight of responsibility was enormous with limited resources. It was overwhelming, exhausting, and at times felt impossible. I joined the coaching certification program first and foremost to save myself—to maintain emotional stability, clarity, and strength for the sake of my family. I realized that I could not afford to fall apart. There was no one else left to hold things together. I had to become that anchor. Through the program, I learned how to reshape my thinking, how to remain present and grounded in the darkest moments, and how to choose resilience when fear and grief felt overwhelming. Coaching taught me how to find light even in uncertainty—to trust that after every storm, there is light, as long as we continue to stand through the darkness. Over the four months of this journey, I worked deeply and intentionally on myself. Step by step, I began rebuilding—helping my family regain health, stability, and hope, while also slowly finding my way back toward my own professional path and medical certification. This experience did not just teach me coaching tools, it transformed how I meet life itself. Today, I feel stronger, clearer, and more grounded than I ever thought possible. I carry not only knowledge, but lived experience. I now know, in my bones, that transformation is possible even in the most painful chapters of life—and that we are far more resilient than we ever imagine.
