“I always felt I had to hold back”
Despite a loving childhood, Shelly discovered through hypnotherapy that she'd been holding herself back from success to avoid overshadowing friends who had harder lives—a pattern she finally recognized and could address.
Christian, it's funny, I originally thought the same thing. I had very loving parents, had an extremely happy childhood with no trauma. My parents always supported me, thought I was fantastic, smart, could do anything, I always felt safe and extremely loved. However as I revisited this hypnotherapy session several times, I actually uncovered an interesting aspect. I had several close friends and cousins that did not have such happy circumstances and I always felt I had to hold back, play down anything I did because my life seemed too happy and overshadowed theirs. I really see now that this has been a constant stumbling block in my ability to accept high levels of success.
