“The song that I came to sing remains unsung to this day”
After years of struggling to share his message of healing and awakening with larger audiences, this spiritual teacher discovered how to speak from the heart consistently. The transformation led to his best seminar ever, where every attendee reported deep, lasting shifts.
The Transformation That Gave Voice to My Heart For as long as I can remember, I’ve carried an inner knowing that I am here to share a message of healing, compassion, and awakening. Yet that message has revealed itself gradually, and for many years I felt I wasn’t giving it the voice it deserved. All my professional life has involved the integration of psychology and spirituality, the head and the heart, and the meeting of East and West. As someone who inherited the mantle of my mentor and friend Anthony de Mello, I was aware of the gap between my mission and my ability to connect with large audiences. My preoccupation with content held me back. And yet, whenever I spoke simply and from the heart, the response was extraordinary -much like at a commencement speech at my old university, which the Dean said was the best keynote she had heard in 34 years. The challenge was that I didn’t know how to access that state consistently. This struggle is what brought me to Speaking & Influencing Mastery. It wasn’t a casual choice. It arose from a deeper truth that became impossible to ignore: “The song that I came to sing remains unsung to this day… The time has not come true, the words have not been rightly set; only there is the agony of wishing in my heart.” (Tagore) I knew it was time to finally give it expression. What Shifted for Me Eric’s teaching brought clarity, confidence, and a surprising sense of ease. The Speech Map freed me from the tyranny of content and allowed me to relax and focus on what truly matters - the audience. Learning to engage people, invite their responses, and weave stories into the experience changed everything. Although I have written six books of one-minute stories, I discovered that telling them from a stage is a different art. Eric modelled it with such naturalness - so human and effortless -that I realised something profound: I don’t need to impress. I don’t need to be an icon. I only need to be myself. That realisation was deeply liberating. Putting It into Practice I had two opportunities - one in early July (Growing Strong in Broken Places) and another at the end of November - to bring these lessons into my seminars. These events were unlike anything I had done before. I felt present, grounded, and remarkably free. The audience opened up instantly. Their engagement was warm and sincere. My greatest reward was witnessing the transformation they reported - deep, genuine, and lasting. And on 30th November, the seminar Living from the Heart became the best I have ever offered. Every person felt touched, and many felt unexpected inner shifts thanks to the coherence they experienced. For the first time, I sensed that the message I carry - the one that has taken a lifetime to understand - was finally reaching people as it is meant to. It is perhaps no coincidence that a well-known supporter of my work has now offered to organise my events starting in January. Something has shifted. My Gratitude A massive thank you to Eric for your authenticity, your generosity, and the effortless clarity of your teaching. You made this journey safe, enjoyable, and transformative. My gratitude to Mindvalley for creating a space where growth becomes natural and where each of us is invited to bring forth our best. And to my fellow participants, thank you for your courage, presence, and stories that have strengthened my resolve to speak from the heart and your support for all of us.
