"In 21 days, I have read about 2 and a half books...more than I did in the whole year!"
Before this program my reading speed was 198wpm and I really did not like reading very much. Today my speed increased to 535 wpm. Along this journey, I experienced multiple emotions. First, complete happiness to see my speed increase exponentially...then discouragement when my speed declined and sort of stagnated. Today, the feeling is complete pride and accomplishment! I realized that I started with a fiction novel, rather easy reading in my mother tongue. Then, for the second week, I switched to an economic book in English; this is when my reading slowed down...I would now catalog this book as "technical reading". HOWEVER, I read it completely with about 75% comprehension in about a week and a half. For the last week, I actually started two new books, one about angels, pretty easy reading! and another one about the ecological blueprint and sustainable growth. That means that in 21 days, I have read about 2 and a half books...more than I did in the whole year! I understand now that there is no magic formula, but rather different techniques to approach each type of reading material. My PLAN after today is to continue my daily readings, watch much less TV, and continue my life journey to improve. 535 WPM is my new base and I intend to double it throughout this year. Thank you, JIM, for opening new frontiers for me, not only for reading but also for my life. In 21 days, I improved my reading speed, but also took on juggling, drinking more water, brain yoga, etc. I am more focused and suddenly, I am having revelations and clear thoughts out of the blue...something is happening to my brain!!! GRACIAS!!!
