The 7 Sacred States Challenge

"The ability to find joy in the everyday without the highs, triumphs, or accolades—that's truly reality-shifting"

Quick summary

From curled up on her closet floor in despair to discovering joy in the everyday, Joslyn found the missing piece in her years of striving: non-attachment to outcomes. The shift was so profound, it even helped her son laugh again for the first time in months.

Three days before the 7 Sacred States Challenge I was in the closet—LITERALLY on my bedroom closet floor curled in the fetal position bawling my eyes out. For years, I've poured everything into helping, pursuing, striving and saw absolutely no results. I've done the hard work hustle, tried visualization, hypnotherapy, manifesting, Feng Shui—you name it, I've tried it. But nothing worked, nothing stuck. I was depleted, defeated, overwhelmed, and feeling completely unappreciated and alone. As I lay on the floor in darkness trying to either find inspiration or decide to just give up, I remembered Vishen's upcoming challenge and thought that I should at least hold on to see if he would give some nugget of wisdom that would explain why none of my efforts had succeeded. It was one of the best decisions I ever made. The 7 Sacred States Challenge reminded me of my value and that I wasn't alone. It helped me to see the universe as a partner working with me instead of an adversary working against me. The challenge reminded me of how peaceful and serene my life was when I started each day with meditation. Most importantly, the principle of non-attachment to outcomes was absolutely life-changing. I'd been desperately pursuing my goals and clinging to the hope that when I achieved my desired outcomes, THEN I'd start enjoying my life. Vishen's reminder that even if the goals are never achieved, I can enjoy my life NOW. The ability to find joy in the everyday without the highs, triumphs, or accolades—that's truly reality-shifting. I shared what I learned in the 7 Sacred States Challenge with my 24-year-old son who's been really struggling with chronic depression and discouragement and last night I heard him laugh-really truly laugh-for the first time in a long time. Best Christmas gift ever.
