During the Quest, I released 28 pounds
After losing his teeth to sugar addiction at 19 and reaching 228 pounds, he found clarity through WildFit. The quest helped him release 28 pounds and finally understand healthy eating, achieving the food freedom that had eluded him for decades.
When I was 19 years old, I had all my teeth removed as a direct result of my addiction to sugar. This was a best option for me at the time, after I had suffered for years with my teeth rotting in my mouth and multiple oral surgeries. I eventually "graduated" to becoming a street addict until I was 27, when I started my journey of recovery. I got off the "obvious" drugs, but sugar was still a constant challenge. It didn't create an obvious problem - I became a productive member of society and did valuable work. Fast forward to March 15th, 2020, when I weighed in at 228 pounds - the heaviest I've ever been (and I'm only 5'7" tall). I was a self-described "fat boy" who felt disgusted at the condition I had allowed my body to deteriorate to. I was clearly emotionally eating, and indiscriminate in my food choices other than if I thought food "tasted good" to me. I found the world full of debates and conflicting opinions about what made food healthy - it was so confusing! When I started the Wildfit quest in October, I weighed 208 pounds - with the 20-pound weight loss largely through the deterioration of my muscles due to inactivity - not because of anything I was deliberately doing. I finished WildFit on January 8th, 2021. During the Quest, I released 28 pounds. Today, I'm 178. That makes a total reduction of 50 pounds in 10.5 months. I picked up a 50-pound bag of Epsom salts yesterday, and found it hard to believe that I used to carry that much useless weight on my body! WildFit helped me make sense of food and healthy eating, and I believe I've truly gained food freedom for the rest of my life - I feel so blessed!
