She built an AI job-application tool and landed two offers at once

A custom Claude skill turned her career archive into tailored resumes and cover letters: five applications in 30 minutes.

She took everything she had already written about her career and turned it into a working tool. One setup, then every new job posting ran through a careful two-stage process. Her story shows how a single well-built AI skill can change how fast and how well someone shows up for opportunities.

Claude job application skill

Before

Her professional history lived across separate resumes, cover letters and a case study archive. Each new job posting meant pulling that material together again by hand. Tailoring every application took time, and time limited how many she could send.

“Loaded professional history once, then ran every new posting through a 2-stage pipeline, resume first, approval required, then cover letter, each pass checked against ATS formatting.”

The turning point

She built a Claude skill from her own resumes, cover letters and case studies, loading her history once. Then she designed a two-stage pipeline: the resume came first and needed her approval before the cover letter was written. Every pass was checked against ATS formatting and delivered as a Word document.

After

She sent five applications in 30 minutes. More than half got responses, leading to three interviews and two offers at the same time, one as a marketing director and one as a magazine contributor. The tool also gave her something she had not planned for.

What it lets people do

It lets a job seeker turn one set of career material into tailored, ATS-ready resumes and cover letters for each new posting. The approval step keeps them in control of what goes out. The same material can also become a prep sheet for interviews.

What they learned

Good intake material keeps paying off in ways you do not expect. The same history that fed her applications also produced an interview prep sheet that pulled in relevant past work, which she found one of the most useful outputs of all.

“The same intake material also produced an interview prep sheet pulling relevant past work, something she didn't design for but that turned out to be one of the most useful outputs.”
