One person, five AI tools, and a four-minute video starring their own digital
A fully AI-generated avatar video built from a character sheet, a personal voice clone and five tools working together.
This student set out to make a video in which every element, from face to voice to script, was generated by AI, and then made it hang together as one story. What stands out is the care: a structured character sheet, staged scenes, a voice clone they spoke with like a collaborator. It shows how far a focused learner can go by combining tools rather than relying on one.
Before
The submission does not describe where they started, but the challenge they took on was clear: no single tool could produce a believable, coherent avatar video on its own. Face, voice and story each lived in a different place, and each tool had its own limits. Making them line up meant working through every gap by hand.
“Multimodal alignment (visual + vocal + narrative) requires deliberate iteration.”

The turning point
During the program they began treating the tools as a chain rather than a menu. They built a personal voice clone in ElevenLabs and, instead of just generating audio, interacted with it as an AI agent to refine tone and delivery. They drafted a long narrative in NotebookLM, then used ChatGPT to compress it again and again until it fit HeyGen's limits.
“Voice cloning becomes more powerful when treated as a collaborative agent rather than a static output tool.”

After
They delivered a cohesive four-minute narrative video. A character sheet and staged settings from Higgsfield (NanoBanana) gave the avatar a consistent look, the cloned voice was recorded separately to keep audio quality high, and HeyGen brought image, voice and script together in the final render. They now work with a clear method for orchestrating several AI tools toward one result.
What it lets people do
Their approach shows how someone can create a realistic presenter version of themselves, speaking in their own cloned voice, without a camera crew or studio. The step-by-step method gives others a repeatable path from research to finished avatar video.
What they learned
They found that each tool's constraints sharpened the work instead of limiting it, and that layering tools gave better results than any one tool alone. They also came away thinking seriously about what AI copies of ourselves mean for authenticity, authorship and digital presence.
“AI identity artifacts raise questions about authenticity, authorship, and digital presence.”
