Built an AI Career Assistant that landed two interviews

Quick summary

After an unexpected layoff, Monika built an AI Career Assistant that scores job postings, tailors applications in her voice, and self-corrects its own work—landing her two interviews while teaching her that systems thinking matters more than prompts.

I built my own AI Career Assistant. It's already gotten me two interviews. Eleven years at one company. Then I was laid off, right as the market started shifting under everyone. The AI Mastery course showed up a week later, a real investment with no income coming in. Something pushed me to sign up anyway, and it's turned out to be the best decision I've made this year, by far. The classes brought real energy: teachers presenting their topics, our coach Vyk digging deeper in the labs, and Rui with the crew keeping it all running behind the scenes. Classmates made it fun too, especially being live for the chats. I started applying what I was learning to my situation and built a personal Career Assistant. It scores every job posting against my actual criteria first, catching things like vague compensation or unrealistic scope before I spend time reviewing the full listing. My resume and cover letter get tailored to speak the language of each role, in my voice. Interview prep pulls from my real stories. Applications get tracked automatically, so nothing slips through. The result: two interviews so far. Building it taught me something more valuable than the tool itself. More than once, I caught the AI getting something genuinely wrong. That's when I stopped patching and built a self-check into the system, one that verifies its own work automatically, so I don't have to remember to check it myself. Prompts got me started. Systems thinking is what made it self-correcting. Now, beyond the job search, my mind is open to what more is possible. Monika Jaszi Systems Thinker Vancouver, Canada
