Bookstore owners with full-time jobs rebuilt their online shop with AI tools

A small team behind a Peruvian online bookstore built custom GPTs, n8n workflows and a Lovable mini-site while keeping their day jobs.

This is the story of a small team running a Peruvian online bookstore on top of full-time jobs. After AI Mastery, they built their own GPTs, automated workflows and an immersive mini-site to carry more of the load. It shows how a program's tools can turn a stretched side project into something sharper and more modern.

Edson Villar
Co-owner of a Peruvian online bookstore, running it alongside a full-time job with a small team.

Labrys online bookstore

Before

They co-own Labrys, an online bookstore in Peru, with a small team. Keeping the shop visible online, selling and delivering books across the whole country took constant work. All of it had to fit around their full-time jobs.

“We are still a small team, and we constantly face the challenge of managing all the tasks required to keep the bookstore visible online, sell and deliver books across the entire country, and at the same time maintain our full-time jobs.”

The turning point

In AI Mastery, they learned concepts and tools they could apply straight away. They built custom GPTs and dedicated ChatGPT projects for the bookstore's most repetitive work. They then moved into automation with n8n and building with Lovable.

“Thanks to applying the concepts and tools from AI Mastery, we have been able to significantly strengthen and modernize our bookstore.”

After

Today their GPTs create styled background images, refine book descriptions and standardize large volumes of title and author data. n8n workflows generate content automatically, and they are working on personalized content through the OpenAI API. They also built a mini-site with Lovable for a special collection, which they are now bringing into the main site.

What it lets people do

Readers get clearer book descriptions, consistent catalogue details and a more immersive way to explore a chosen collection. The team gets hours back, so a few people can keep a national bookstore running.

What they learned

They found that AI can let a small team punch above its weight when it is aimed at real, everyday tasks. That freed them to think bigger, about growing their presence and about promoting reading and culture.

“At the moment, we are conducting an internal review to identify new and innovative ways to expand our market presence, position Labrys as the leading online bookstore in Peru (this is a complex goal as we have strong competitors), and continue contributing value to society by promoting reading and culture.”

I am one of the owners of a Peruvian online bookstore called Labrys (https://labrys.pe). We are still a small team, and we constantly face the challenge of managing all the tasks required to keep the bookstore visible online, sell and deliver books across the entire country, and at the same time maintain our full-time jobs. Thanks to applying the concepts and tools from AI Mastery, we have been able to significantly strengthen and modernize our bookstore. Some of the key initiatives we have implemented include: - Custom GPTs and dedicated ChatGPT projects for: -- Creating high-quality, beautifully styled background images. -- Improving and refining book descriptions. -- Enriching and standardizing large volumes of book titles and author data. - Development of automated workflows using n8n to generate content automatically for users. We are currently working on AI-generated personalized content powered by the OpenAI API. - Development of a mini-site using Lovable to offer an enhanced and more immersive experience for a specific collection of books. We are now working on integrating this mini-site seamlessly into our main website. At the moment, we are conducting an internal review to identify new and innovative ways to expand our market presence, position Labrys as the leading online bookstore in Peru (this is a complex goal as we have strong competitors), and continue contributing value to society by promoting reading and culture.
