A free ticket to a city they'd seen became a trip built with their own AI app
A no-code Barcelona guide with geotagged neighborhoods, a live agenda and carnival events, built from podcasts and an Airtable base.
They had a free ticket to Barcelona and no reason to go, having already seen the landmarks. Instead of shrugging, they used AI tools to build their own city guide, and the trip turned into carnival balls, reunions with old friends and a first family bike ride across the city. It is a lovely picture of what happens when new skills meet a little curiosity.

A curious traveller who dislikes travelling without purpose and taught themselves no-code AI tools.
Before
They had been to Barcelona before and had already checked off all the landmarks. The city was not on their bucket list, but a free ticket arrived. They dislike travelling without a purpose or without learning something new, so the question was simple and a little uncomfortable: what would they even do there?
“I dislike traveling without a purpose or without learning something new.”
In their own words
The turning point
Using what they learned about AI in the program, they found reliable podcasts and websites, transcribed them with Glaps, crawled pages with Browse.ai and parsed the useful details with an LLM. They geotagged locations into an Airtable base. Reaching out to friends on social media, they discovered it was carnival time, and the plan suddenly filled up.
“Suddenly, I went from wondering, "What the hell am I going to do there?" to figuring out, "How do I fit all of this into my schedule?”
In their own words
After
They built two apps and an extensive Airtable database, including a Glide city guide with neighborhoods, restaurants, museums, a geotagged map and an agenda they could update on the go. On the day they arrived they went from the airport taxi to lunch to a masked carnival ball. They revisited familiar places with fresh knowledge, even spotting a Picasso head sculpted on the Sagrada Familia that the guide had missed.
What it lets people do
The guide gathers neighborhoods, places to eat, museums and events into one mapped, searchable app. Travellers can plan a full agenda, add plans as they come, and see a familiar city through new eyes instead of following the herd.
What they learned
They learned that a trip without meaning can be given one, with a bit of research and the right tools. AI did the heavy copy-pasting so they could spend their time on people, discovery and family.
“Before this trip, it was always me watching my child bike, but now, thanks to AI, I could enjoy biking across the city for the first time.”

**Describe your AI project - your methodology, tools, results, learnings, etc. Remember to include all relevant URLs!**
**VALUE PROPOSITION:** A trip costs money. Serial tourism can drain one's soul. Nobody wants to feel like part of a herd. Travel concierges are expensive. With **THE TRIP OF A LIFETIME TRAVEL APP**, you can transform your regular long weekend escapade into an unforgettable experience.
I wanted to travel to Barcelona. Having been there before, I had already "checked" all the landmarks. It was not on my bucket list, but I had gotten a free ticket. I dislike traveling without a purpose or without learning something new. Thus, I had to find meaning in this trip.
I discovered some reliable, up-to-date podcasts and websites. I transcribed with Glaps, crawled with Browse.ai, and parsed all the valuable information. I geotagged numerous locations. I created an Airtable base with columns for organizing all this information, always using an LLM to save time on copy-pasting.
Then, I turned to my social media to reconnect with long-time friends who were living there, as well as potential business contacts. That's when I realized it was carnival time! I conducted further research and located all the carnival events in town, which occur at very specific places and times. By this point, my friends and contacts began responding, leading to arrangements for dinners and meetings.
Suddenly, I went from wondering, "What the hell am I going to do there?" to figuring out, "How do I fit all of this into my schedule?" Consequently, I created an agenda that allowed for adding events on the go, ensuring it was always up-to-date and geotagged.
I developed two apps and one extensive Airtable database. Here, I'm showcasing just one of the apps, which also highlights "my" neighborhood, chosen based on the contacts I made.
The outcome was a success. From the airport taxi to my first lunch, from wandering through my neighborhood to attending a masked carnival ball on the very day I arrived, I went to sleep happy and exhausted.
Thanks to my cash control app, I meticulously tracked expenses and managed to stay within budget. With my app, I revisited places I had been before, but with newly acquired knowledge, I saw things through different eyes. I even found a Picasso head sculpted on the Sagrada Familia church that even the guide hadn’t noticed! (see photo attached)
The app helped me save hundreds of euros by selecting the best restaurants, visiting expensive museums on free days, and even having a life-changing experience! For the first time in our family's life, we rode separate bikes with our daughter on a 20km ride through the city. Thankfully, I had already located bike rental places and bike lane paths for a safe journey. Before this trip, it was always me watching my child bike, but now, thanks to AI, I could enjoy biking across the city for the first time. See the video on the submission.
I love you, AI, slightly less than my family, but I do, really!
