A home inspector turned 22 years of know-how into a first book with AI
A home inspector of 22 years used ChatGPT and Claude to finally write a maintenance guide for homeowners, in a voice close to their own.
For 22 years, this home inspector gathered knowledge from reports, courses, seminars and conferences, and it stayed in cold storage. In AI Mastery they learned to teach AI tools their own writing style, and a first book came out of it. It is a quiet, encouraging example of how a lifetime of expertise can finally reach the people who need it.
The Ultimate Guide to Maintaining Your Home
Before
They had spent 22 years in home inspection, building up knowledge from inspection reports, courses, seminars, meetings and conferences. All of it lived in their head and their files. They wanted to help people with it but had no clear way to share it, and a book felt like something they might never finish.
“Without the help of the AI tools I used to help me write the book, I probably would never have completed it and kept my knowledge in cold storage.”

The turning point
They started by telling ChatGPT about themselves and asking how a home inspector with 22 years of experience could help people. The answer was a maintenance guide covering every system in a home. Then, using what they learned in AI Mastery, they fed the models samples of their writing style so each chapter came out sounding close to their own voice.
“Using what I learned in AI Mastery to feed the LLMs about my style of writing, it did not take long to come up with all the chapters involving all the components of a home I wanted to include.”

After
They mapped out chapters for every component of a home they wanted to cover, and the drafting went quickly. The editing and formatting took more of their own effort, and they used Nano Banana to help design the cover. The result is their first book, The Ultimate Guide to Maintaining Your Home, ready for publishing, and they are already inspired to write more.
What it lets people do
The guide gives homeowners a practical walk through the different systems in their home and how to keep them in good shape. It puts two decades of an inspector's experience into a form anyone can pick up and use.
What they learned
They learned that expertise does not have to stay locked away, and that AI tools can carry much of the heavy lifting when you teach them how you write. Some parts, like formatting, still need patience and better prompts, but the bulk of the work gets done.
“So, here it is, my first ever Book! I'm inspired now to write more.”
In their own words
The Ultimate Guide to Maintaining Your Home was built during AI Mastery.
