With no fullstack experience, they cut a trader's 4-hour morning to 15 minutes

An AI research platform that gathers over 760 items every hour and turns them into one Morning Briefing at 6:30 AM.

This student had no prior fullstack experience, only a clear problem sitting right in front of them: a business partner losing every morning to research. They described what they wanted to an AI tool and built a fully deployed platform step by step. It is a story about starting from a real person's pain and shipping something they used every day.

Trading Input Hub

Before

Their business partner Markus is a serious private trader. Every morning he spent 3 to 4 hours going through YouTube videos, analyst opinions, podcasts, news articles and Trump's Truth Social posts just to prepare for the trading day. The problem was simple to name and hard to solve: too much information, too little time.

The turning point

They started with that one problem and described the solution to Manus AI, building it together step by step. They mapped out a full pipeline, from an Input Hub through a Signal Engine all the way to Learning & Memory, then focused the first version on aggregation and briefing. No prior fullstack experience was needed to get it live.

After

The Trading Input Hub now pulls in over 760 items every hour from YouTube channels, RSS feeds and podcasts, transcribes and summarizes each video, and writes a personalized Morning Briefing at 6:30 AM. Markus used it daily and got used to it very fast. They also designed an Airtable onboarding layer so each future user could set their own sources, keywords and briefing time without code changes.

What it lets people do

A trader can open one briefing and see market consensus, where analysts disagree, Trump posts and their market implications, and a focused watchlist for the day. What used to take a whole morning takes about 15 minutes.

What they learned

Building it was only half the lesson. Running it showed that AI costs can make a loved product unsustainable, so token optimization has to be designed in from the start, not added later. Their next version is planned around smarter caching, batching and selective summarization.

“That is the main learning: token optimization needs to be built in from the start, not added later.”

Achievements My business partner Markus is a serious private trader. He was spending 3 to 4 hours every morning going through YouTube videos, analyst opinions, podcasts, news articles and Trump's Truth Social posts just to prepare for the trading day. I built him a solution that cuts that down to 15 minutes. The Trading Input Hub is a fully deployed, AI-powered research platform. It automatically aggregates over 760 items from YouTube channels, RSS feeds and podcasts, every hour. Every video gets transcribed and summarized by AI. Each morning at 6:30 AM, an LLM synthesizes everything into a personalized Morning Briefing - market consensus, analyst disagreements, Trump posts and their market implications, plus a focused watchlist for the day. Markus used it daily and got used to it very fast. Tools Manus AI (vibe-coding), React 19, TypeScript, tRPC, Drizzle ORM, MySQL, Express, OpenAI Whisper for audio transcription, LLM integration for briefing generation and content summarization, Heartbeat scheduling with 3 cron jobs, Airtable for customer onboarding. Methodology I started with a clear problem: too much information, too little time. I described what I wanted to Manus AI and we built it together, step by step. No prior fullstack experience needed. The architecture follows a clear pipeline: Input Hub > Signal Engine > Portfolio Engine > Market Dashboard > Analysis Channels > Alert Engine > Briefing Engine > Learning & Memory. The MVP covers the first layer - aggregation and briefing. I also built an Airtable onboarding system for future customers, because what traders want to research varies a lot. For future scaling, I designed an Airtable-based customer configuration layer. New users fill out an onboarding form / interface with their preferred news sources, YouTube channels, keywords and briefing time. The platform reads this configuration via Airtable API and automatically creates personalized feeds for each user. Customers can update their preferences directly in Airtable and the platform picks up changes on the next sync cycle - no code changes needed." Learnings The platform was originally built in German for Markus. I switched it to English for this award submission. Markus loved the product but at around $10 per day in AI token costs, it was not sustainable for a single user. That is the main learning: token optimization needs to be built in from the start, not added later. The next version will be rebuilt in Claude Code with smarter caching, batching and selective summarization to bring costs down to under $1 per day.
