Summary: Going from a fixed to a growth mindset is essential for transformation. Here are 3 ways to create impactful mindset shifts as a mindset coach.

So… what exactly is a mindset coach?

The answer is more straightforward than you might think.

A mindset coach is simply a coach who focuses their attention on unpacking the mindset patterns, beliefs, and behaviors that are holding back their clients…

And then, it helps them install new behaviors and beliefs that serve them moving forward.

Ajit shares three effective ways for you to become a successful mindset coach. You can watch the video below.

Fixed & growth mindset

The way mindset coaches work on installing new behaviors and patterns is by moving clients from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset.

This idea of the fixed and growth mindset is a concept put forward by Carol Dweck in her famous book Mindset, and it goes somewhat like this:

  1. Individuals with a fixed mindset tend to do the same things over and over again because they believe they have certain limitations they just can’t overcome.
  2. Individuals with a growth mindset tend to try new things and are open and curious about what they are capable of and what might happen in the future.

It is the job of a mindset coach to move their clients from one state to the other, from fixed to growth, so they can achieve their full potential.

3 steps to becoming a mindset coach

If you are a mindset coach and want to become really good at what you do, pay attention to these three steps:

1. Understand how beliefs & behaviors are created

Our past experiences often dictate the kind of behavior we adopt and the kind of belief system we form.

Many events and circumstances in our lives that offer us a variety of diverse experiences lead us to form a variety of diverse beliefs.

For example, if you were booed at school for a recitation gone wrong, you may end up believing that you are inherently bad at public speaking.

Hence, experiences from your life and the self-talk you create around those experiences contribute heavily to your habit and belief formation.

The first step for you to become a successful mindset coach is to identify the experiences and circumstances that have led to you or your clients forming certain fixed beliefs.

2. Create mindset shifts

This is exactly where a mindset coach comes in.

We believe creating transformation for your clients comes down to three key things:

  1. Emotional mastery
  2. Empowered thinking
  3. Habits

Why?

Because when your clients master these three things, they become equipped to move from a fixed to a growth mindset.

Which, as discussed, is the main job of a mindset coach.

It’s about becoming the kind of person that sees opportunities, rather than limitations.

3. Help clients keep the new mindset

As a mindset coach, it’s important to remember that a mindset shift takes time to create and implement.

Mindsets are difficult to simply shift over a short period of time. This is because our mindsets are created over years of fixed beliefs and habits.

The key is to follow through and have consistency with new habits and behaviors. Mindset shifts will not happen over a week. They may take up to 100 days, but the key is to keep at it.

And that’s where the third step for a mindset coach to be successful comes in.

Ensure that you invest that energy with your client and take time with your client consistently so they can consciously shift their mindset.

So go ahead and implement these three steps in your journey as a mindset coach.
